Description
Doxycycline Hyclate is an antibiotic prescribed to treat a variety of infections including Lyme disease, Rocky Mountain Spotted Fever, Chlamydia, Erlichia, Leptospirosis and bacterial infections. It might also help with urinary tract, respiratory tract and wound infections.
Precautions
Do not give Doxycycline to pregnant or nursing pets. Do not give multivitamins, calcium supplements, antacids, or laxatives within 2 hours before or after giving this medication, as these products can reduce the effectiveness of Doxycycline. Doxycycline may make a pets skin more sensitive to sunlight and sunburn may occur.
This drug is FDA-approved for human use. However, it is common practice for veterinarians to prescribe such drugs for use in dogs and cats.
